Card Tricks with Two Packs
Use two packs, each with a different coloured back. Ask someone from
the audience to help you. Tell them to copy you exactly and do whatever
you do. Each of you has one pack. Start by both shuffling again.
Exchange the cards again, but as you hand them over steal a glance at
the bottom card of the pack you are handing over. This, of course, is
your 'key' card.
Each of you take a card from your pack, look at it without showing
anyone else and replace it on the top of the pack. Cut the pack.
Exchange packs again.
As you will realize, your helper's chosen card is now under your key
card in the pack in your hand. Let's say it's the Queen of Hearts. Now
each of you has to remove the card previously selected from the pack in
their hand. So ask your helper to do this and put the card face down on
the table without anyone seeing.
Your helper will draw out the Queen of Hearts, but you ignore
whatever you had before. Obviously, you use your key card to find the
chosen card, and you draw out the Queen of Hearts.
Then, in unison you both turn your cards over to reveal them to be
the same. Simple, but extremely effective. You can follow this trick
with a similar one called Matching Cards.
Before you start, secretly put a card in your left pocket. Let us say
it is the 6 of Hearts from a red pack and that the other pack is blue.
Ask your audience to shuffle both packs of cards. Give the red pack to a
member of your audience and put the blue one in front of yourself. Ask
the person to take a card from the red pack and, without looking at it,
slide it across the table to you face down. Take it and put it in your
left pocket next to the 6 of Hearts, but making sure the 6 of Hearts is
on the outside. Make sure everyone can see that you haven't looked at
it.
Then pick up the blue pack, fan it in front of you and pick out the 6 of
Hearts. While you are doing so keep looking deep into the eyes of the
person helping as if you are trying to get inspiration. Now, slide the
blue 6 of Hearts across to him and ask him to put it in his pocket.
Don't let anyone see what it is.
You both then put your hands in your left pockets and both bring out
the 6 of hearts. You, of course, have left another card hidden in your
pocket, but nobody knows that and they will all think you are remarkably
clever! |
